Part of a loutrophoros decorated in the red-figure technique. It was found in 1957 at the Sanctuary of the Nymphe in two fragments and was pieced together.

It depicts a bride getting ready before the wedding. The bride sits on a chair with her hair covered by a veil, a diadem on her head and earrings on her ears. With her right hand she raises a wreath in front of her face. Wreaths made of myrtle, laurel and olive tree had a symbolic character and were used for adorning the newlyweds and their houses, signifying prosperity and fertility in their common life. On the scene’s upper right corner a small part of another figure’s garment participating in the preparation of the bride can be discerned.
